Ever heard the song “The 12 Days of Christmas”? If so, you have a great grasp of the indoor numbers scavenger hunt! Participants have to find a specific number of a specific type of item. You can vary the items and numbers if needed to match your location. This scavenger hunt is great for helping the kids learn how to count or practice counting especially since you can start at the number 1 and increase from there!
Ideal timing & location: Any day, and almost any house.
Advanced prep:
Make a list for each team, and provide them with something to use as a base—a hula-hoop or a box work well.
Decide on a prize for the winning team—it can be something token that you purchase, a silly trophy from a garage sale, or something numbers related, like Dominoes, playing cards,
Just before the hunt:
Print out a letter list for each team, so they can mark off each letter as they find suitable items
Decide in advance how much flexibility you need—will you allow photographs or images, drawings, or do you require a concrete, physical item for each number?
